Anna Mary Wetzel, 95, of Brookdale Grayson View passed into eternal rest on Monday, March 24, 2025, at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She was born on November 10, 1929, to the late Clark and Mary (Aumiller) Herbster. While in high school, she enjoyed working several summers at Rolling Green Park. After graduating from Selinsgrove High School, she worked for many years as a legal secretary for Attorney Laird S. Gemberling, Selinsgrove. On June 1, 1951, she married Richard L. Wetzel with whom she enjoyed 65 years until his passing in 2016.
Anna Mary was very active at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Selinsgrove, participating in the choir as she grew up in the church for over 70 years and was a lifelong member of Eastern Star for greater than 50 years.
Her volunteering activities included The Mustard Seed and Meals on Wheels in Selinsgrove.
Anna Mary and her late husband enjoyed many winter vacations in Florida in their retirement years.
Anna Mary was a sports fan. She especially enjoyed Seal’s football, Penn State Football, Bucknell basketball, and Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anna Mary was preceded in death by an infant brother Ricky, at six months of age, and a daughter, Patricia Lynn born and died on January 12, 1966.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann and her husband Mike Aurand, one granddaughter Heather and her husband Jared Zeigler, one grandson Adam Aurand, three great-grandchildren Kylar Aurand, Libby and Cole Zeigler, and a brother Gerald Herbster of Bridgewater, NJ.
Her family would like to express their thanks to Brookdale Grayson View, especially Therese and the Clare Bridge Family for many years of devoted care and companionship for Anna Mary and sincere gratitude to all of the caring staff of Acute Care, 3rd Floor of WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital for their care and support during Anna Marys’ final days.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to Noon at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 400 N. Market Street, Selinsgrove followed by the funeral service at Noon with Rev. Dr. Dietmar J. Plajer officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam. Arrangements by the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High Street, Selinsgrove.
