Barbara B. Fisher

Barbara Brown Fisher, 80, passed away on January 6, 2026, at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, PA. She resided in Selinsgrove, PA, from 1963 to 2022 and was married to the late Earl Fisher. Barbara was born on February 6, 1945, in Hartford, Connecticut to the late David C. and Daisy (Brookbanks) Brown. She was a proud graduate of both Wethersfield CT High School in 1963 and Susquehanna University in 1967. She was a schoolteacher for many years, including service in the West Perry and Selinsgrove School Districts and at St. Michael School in Sunbury. After teaching, Barbara helped others locate job training services while working at PA Career Link. Always hardworking, Barbara held more than one job for many years to support her family, including positions at the Country Cupboard, Buster Brown Shoes, and J. Kleinbauer. She was active with the Girl Scouts, PTA/PTSO, Beta Sigma Phi and supported her children at countless swim meets, soccer and field hockey games, scouting, 4-H and high school activities, and more. Barbara later became involved with the Order of the Eastern Star and served in leadership positions. Over her life, Barbara was a member of several churches, including Sharon Lutheran Church in Selinsgrove and Christ United Methodist Church in Northumberland. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was predeceased by stepsisters Judy O'Toole and Sharon O'Toole Wells. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Brown Astles, of Ivoryton, CT; her children Amy Troutman Layman (Keith) of West Chester, PA, Michael Troutman of Lancaster, PA, Michelle Troutman Brubaker (Daniel) of Lancaster, PA, and stepson David Fisher (Melissa) of Northumberland, PA; four grandchildren, Maggie and James Layman and Natalie and Noah Holland; and other loving family, including Bernice Troutman, and nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends at V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N High Street, Selinsgrove, on Saturday, January 10, from 1 to 2 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 2 pm with Pastor Joan Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
