Doris P. (Nace) Weirick

Doris P. Weirick, 96, Northumberland

Doris Pauline (Nace) Weirick, 96, formerly of Selinsgrove passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

She was born in Michigan on February 22, 1929, a daughter of the late William H. and Jewel (Warholk) Nace. In 1947 she married William L. Weirick who preceded her in death in 1989.

Doris was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Selinsgrove where she taught Sunday school and assisted in health screenings. She was also involved in ministries with the sick where she would visit shut-ins at home and nursing homes and bring communion.

After leaving high school, Doris worked as a waitress, salesclerk, and factory worker until the arrival of her son six years later when she became a full-time mother and housewife for 20 years. In addition to volunteer activities, which included volunteering at the Mustard Seed, she was a member of the Susquehanna Valley Arts Society where she pursued her love of painting and became an occupational therapy assistant at the Selinsgrove Center’s creative arts and crafts program.

She earned her GED in 1973 and obtained an associate of arts degree from Susquehanna University in 1981.  

She was a life-long learner. Her goal was to not only “acquire knowledge, but wisdom and understanding to continually ask questions and always seek the truth.”

Doris is survived by three grandchildren, Scott Weirick, Mandy Reed, and Billie Jo Weirick Millington; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Steven Nace; and nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, William A. Weirick; one grandson, Dustin W. Weirick in 2019; and four brothers, John, Allen, David, and Stanley Nace.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 28 from 10-11 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 112 Fairview Dr., Selinsgrove. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 am with Father Joshua Cavender as Celebrant.

Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Doris’ memory may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 112 Fairview Dr., Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
