Dorothy J. Hoffman

Dorothy “Dot” Hoffman, 90, of Freeburg, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Nov 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home. She is now with her Lord and Savior.

Dot was born at home in Winfield, PA on March 24, 1935, the daughter of the late Roy S. and Margaret J. (Maurer) Brouse of Kratzerville. Her schooling started in a one-room classroom located at the Grove in Kratzerville. She graduated from the class of 1953 at Selinsgrove Area High School. She always enjoyed reunions and catching up with her classmates.

Dot was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an ever-present and loving part of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives. Always and eagerly attending events and functions to show her support and love. Dot cherished her beloved friendships.

Dot was an active member at St. Peter’s Evangelical Church of Freeburg. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and active in Boy Scouts. She was a lifelong member of the Freeburg Ladies Auxiliary serving her community. Each year she looked forward to the Freeburg Carnival. She truly enjoyed working in the French Fry stand, where she organized the crews and kept everyone in line for the past 60 plus years.  She was instrumental in starting and maintaining the Freeburg Washington Senior Citizens Group. She was a devoted Selinsgrove Seals fan, enjoyed listening to Friday night football every week. She especially loved watching her family play in their hundreds of sporting events over the years. She always enjoyed watching her favorite reality TV shows, especially dancing with the stars.

Dot is survived by her son, Trent (Carol) Hoffman of Middleburg; daughter Tammy Keller of Port Trevorton and son Todd (Jennifer) Hoffman of Freeburg. Grandchildren Tiffany (Brad) Shaffer of Middleburg, Erica (Josh) Seidman of Colorado, Cody Keller and fiancé Sara Arbogast of Port Trevorton, Brooke Keller of Florida, Alexis Hoffman of Lancaster and Megan Hoffman of Virginia. Great grandchildren; Bryce, Claire and Violet Shaffer of Middleburg, Sonny and Ace Seidman of Colorado.

A visitation will be held on Thursday November 13 at St. Peters (Red Church) in Freeburg from 10:00 until 11:00, followed by a funeral service at 11:00. A private graveside service will be at the Zion Church of Kratzerville. Services will be officiated by Pastor Jason Hostetter.
