Dorothy I. Sampsell

Dorothy Irene Sampsell, 86, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at The Mission at Air Force Village, San Antonio, Texas. Dorothy was born on October 7, 1939, in Centerville (Penns Creek), Snyder County, the daughter of the late Stanley Quay and Mary (Krezmin) Sampsell. She was a graduate of Middleburg High School class of 1957 and was named Prom Queen her senior year. Dorothy was very active during high school. She participated in band, cheerleading, basketball, class plays, Vice-President of her class, and received the D.A.R. Good Citizenship Award. She furthered her education at Jefferson School of Nursing, Philadelphia graduating in 1960. Dorothy enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967 and served active duty during the Vietnam war. She was stationed at Cam Ranh Air Force Base.  Dorothy retired from the United States Air Force on January 1, 1988, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She is survived by her nephew Clark Sampsell, Jr., two great-nephews, two great-great nephews, and a great-great niece. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers Clark E. Sampsell, Sr. in 1981 and Stanley K. Sampsell in 2005.  Burial with Full military honors accorded by the Selinsgrove American Legion Post No. 25 and the Selinsgrove Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6631 will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in Penns Creek Union Cemetery, Route 104, Penns Creek.
