Edna Gingrich Obituary

Edna Marie Gingrich, 98, of Selinsgrove died on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg. Edna was born on June 7, 1927, in Pillow, Dauphin County, to the late Paul E. and Anna E. (Dreibelbis) Bohner. She married the late Kenneth M. Gingrich on June 23, 1951, and they were united in marriage for 57 years. Edna was a graduate of Elizabethville High School in 1944 and a graduate of Elizabethtown College in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. Despite facing the significant challenge of losing her father at the age of five, she remained determined to pursue higher education. To help finance her college degree, she undertook multiple jobs, including positions at the Pentagon and a summer camp in Colebrook, New Hampshire. Following graduation, she obtained a teaching position at Mahanoy Joint High School, now Line Mountain, where she worked for seven years teaching a variety of business courses such as typing and shorthand. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Selinsgrove where she served on various committees. She was a Sunday school teacher for several years and Superintendent for three years. She helped with the monthly church newsletter and the Loaves and Fishes program; a food distribution ministry aimed at addressing food insecurity in her community. Edna was active with the Meals on Wheels program for fifteen years from 1985-2000. She was a longtime member (50+) of the Lafayette Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Selinsgrove. Edna was very proud of her family and her granddaughter and enjoyed spending time with them. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law: Barbara and William Pyers of Selinsgrove, Ann and Craig Conrad of Newport, NC, Beth Deckard of Winfield, and Diane and Grant Spoors of Downingtown. She also had a granddaughter, Paige Spoors, whom she adored, two nieces and a nephew. Edna had a brother who preceded her at birth. In addition to spending time with her family, Edna enjoyed traveling, crocheting, knitting and playing games. She was active throughout her life spending time riding her bike and walking. A private service will be held by the family at a later date. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Edna to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 400 N. Market Street, Selinsgrove, PA 17870 or to WellSpan Hospice, One Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837. Arrangements by the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High Street, Selinsgrove.
