Effie Irene Reggia, 67, of Port Trevorton, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Effie was born on March 4, 1958, in Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ulysses D. and Alma (Rupp) Morton. She was a graduate of Selinsgrove High School and Williamsport Area Community College Nursing Program. On September 6, 1980, she married Rudy L. Reggia, who survives. The couple shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.
Effie was a Cardiac Sonographer who retired from Geisinger Medical Center. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Sunbury Community Hospital and Evangelical Community Hospital. She was an active member of the Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene, where she volunteered with Little Seeds Preschool and MomCo. Effie had a special gift for caring for others and found great joy in spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
In addition to her devoted husband, Rudy, Effie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Larissa and Tyler Hassinger; two grandchildren, Theodore and Margot Hassinger; two sisters, Cindy (Chuck) Kline and Lisa (Rick) Zelina; a brother, Tim Morton; a sister-in-law, Deb Morton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Durant Morton.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High Street, Selinsgrove, followed by The Nightingale Tribute by SUN Nurses Honor Guard and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles H. Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Effie to Sun Area Work & Witness, c/o Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene, 543 W.
