Elsie Wetzel Obituary

Elsie M. Wetzel, age 83, of Newport, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 4, 1942, Elsie was the beloved daughter of the late Earl T.R. Kerstetter and Mary Williamson of Liverpool.

A devoted wife, Elsie, shared a remarkable 64 years of marriage with her husband, Fred W. Wetzel, cherishing their enduring partnership and the life they built together. She was a proud and caring mother to her two children, Lisa & Kim Horting of Millerstown and Ken & Deb Wetzel of Newport, and a deeply admired grandmother to three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She attended Newport Assembly of God Church, Newport.

Elsie was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and a guiding light for her family. Her unwavering love, generosity, and kindness reflected her commitment to living a life of faith, inspiring those who knew her.

Elsie was preceded in death by six of her seven siblings: Russell A. Kerstetter of Liverpool, Earl D. Kerstetter of Freeburg, Lewis D. Kerstetter, her twin brother, of Middleburg, Phyllis A. Singley of Middleburg, Dennis R. Kerstetter of Millerstown, and Barbara A. Kerstetter of Newport. She is survived by her brother, Gary A. Kerstetter of Middleburg.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to God and her family, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she met, and her memory will be treasured forever.

A celebration gathering and service of Elsie's life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Bellis sharing at the Newport Assembly of God Family Life Center, 27 W. Shortcut Road, Newport honoring the legacy of love and faith she leaves behind. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Elsie to the Newport Assembly of God Church, 253 N. 6th Street, Newport, PA 17074. Arrangements by the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High Street, Selinsgrove, PA.
