Gary Lee “Fats” Perkinson, 80, of Selinsgrove passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his home. Gary was born at home on August 18, 1945, in Selinsgrove the son of the late Russell Edward Sr. and Imogene Eva (Mull) Perkinson. On November 3, 1968, he married the former Mildred “Millie” G. Heckman, who survives. The couple were married for 57 years at the time of his passing.
Gary served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 during the Vietnam War.
Gary formerly drove dump trucks for local area companies and later retired after 38 years from Wood-Mode Inc. Kreamer.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Independent Bible Church, Beavertown.
Gary enjoyed hunting, camping and butchering. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife Mildred, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Scot and Brenda Perkinson, two daughters and a son-in-law Lori and Larry Miller and Wendy Perkinson, four grandchildren Troy Berge and his fiancée Tanya Forney, Jamie (David) Eister, Samantha (Matthew) Gehers, and Amanda Perkinson, six great-grandchildren Mason Berge, Jillian Gehers, Levi Gehers, Savannah Gehers, Cameron Eister, and Alex Eister, two brothers and sisters-in-law Ken (Judy) Perkinson and Ray (Belle) Perkinson, two sisters Shirley Heckman and Esther Kreider, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to Gary’s parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Travis Berge, three brothers, Russell Perkinson Jr., Elwood Perkinson, and Roger Perkinson and two sisters Kay Sarfine and Charlotte Perkinson in early childhood.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Independent Bible Church, 7812 Middle Road, Beavertown followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alvin Smith officiating. Burial with full military honors accorded by the Selinsgrove American Legion Post No. 25 and the Selinsgrove Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6631 will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
