Helen Benfer Obituary

Helen Benfer, 103, of Selinsgrove (Kratzerville), went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at WellSpan Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg, with her loving family at her bedside.
Helen was born on Jan. 6, 1922, in Marion Heights, Northumberland County, the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna (Mudrick) Klemack. On Oct. 20, 1951, she married George A. Benfer, who preceded her in death in November 2011.
She was a homemaker. In her earlier years, she was employed at Milco Industries, Bloomsburg, and was a Rosie the Riveter, making parachutes used to drop food and medicine during World War II.
Helen was a member of Zion’s Church of Kratzerville. She was a former member of the Kratzerville Homemakers and the Penn Wheelers Square Dance Club.
Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was meticulous about her home, flowers and yard. Helen was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed playing games with her family and doing word search puzzles. She also enjoyed playing cards with her caregiver.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane Benfer, Darlene Benfer, Nancy (Bruce) Adams; sons Michael (Karen) Benfer and John (Debra) Benfer. Also surviving are five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Helen was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
Per Helen’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Zion Reformed Church Cemetery, Kratzerville.
