Helen Lois Nylund, 85, of Selinsgrove, passed away on January 17, 2026, surrounded by family.
Helen was a kind, loving, and devoted wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandmother (GG), who lived a life of faith and service. She was a role model and a guiding light to many.
Helen was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She also volunteered for several charitable organizations, including Meals on Wheels, Meals for Seals, Mission Central and Journey of Hope. She was a willing helper to anyone in need and made a great impact on the community.
Helen was an avid reader, a life-long learner, and enjoyed attending events at Susquehanna University. She also enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Helen was born July 16, 1940, in Hornell, NY to Rev. James and Lois Buikema. She married Robert Nylund (1937-2021) in 1962 and earned her B.S. and M.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa in 1964. She spent most of her pharmacy career at Evangelical Community Hospital.
Helen will be greatly missed by her loving family: David and Christine Nylund, Chris and Peter Kolz, Jim Nylund and Liz Hahn; grandchildren Micaela and Will Carden, James Nylund, Jake Nylund and Claudia Hensler, Josh Nylund, Jasper Nylund, Taevis Kolz, Sydney Kolz and Rebecca Nylund; and great grandchildren, Anders Nylund and Lily Carden.
In memory of Helen, contributions may be sent to the organizations mentioned above.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 10 AM at Wesley United Methodist Church, 300 Rhoads Ave, Selinsgrove.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the start of the service.
Fellowship, with light refreshments provided, will follow the service.
