John Charles Carlson, 60, of Selinsgrove, passed on July 7, 2025.He was born in Joliet, Ill., on March 3, 1965, to the late Conrad and Lorraine Carlson. He graduated from Penn State with a degree in Applied Science in 2011. John (JC) is survived by his wife, Faye Elaine Bonawitz-Carlson; daughters Samantha Lee Bonawitz Carlson and Kristi Carlson; grandchildren Lauren and Raven; stepson Nelson Batten; sisters Annie Ingram and Debbie Schuck; and many nieces and nephews. John was proceeded in death by his brothers, Steve and William Reynolds and sister Marjorie Hall. John is remembered by family and friends as a kind and generous person always looking to assist (unless there was a spider to be removed). His interests included target shooting, writing, politics and watching all Chicago sports with Adam, most specifically Bears. Known for his avid patriotic stance, John retired from the Navy after 22 years seeing the world. Assigned as a Navy Operation Specialist, John was trained at Top Gun as an Air Intercept Controller serving on the USS America (CV-66), USS Crommelin (FFG-37), USS Tarawa (LHA-37), USS Enterprise (CVN-65) and many other Navy and Joint duty stations. John also worked for more than 10 years as an assistance officer at DHS/ICE. John will have a military service at Indiantown Gap cemetery, PA, at a later date
