John Nelson Olin, 73, of Sunbury passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. John was born on July 17, 1952, in Shamokin the son of the late Clarence and Irene (VanKirk) Olin. On October 11, 2014, he married the former Tara McKenna, who survives. The couple were married 11 years at the time of his passing. John was a graduate of Shikellamy High School and was employed as a truck driver. He was a life member of Americus Hose Company where he was a driver for the ladder truck and Northumberland Fire Company No. 1. He was also a member of the Sunbury Steam Fire Company and was a driver for the engine truck. Additionally, John was a member of the Sunbury Moose Lodge 181 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #503. In addition to his wife Tara, John is survived by two daughters Marilyn Olin and Stephanie Olin, a grandson Brayddyn Olin, a stepdaughter Catie Williams and her fiancé Shawn Lamberson, three stepsons Chris Williams, Tyler Hendricks, and Jarod Hendricks and his significant other Bethanee Bird, step-grandchildren Gabriel, Wyatt, Noah, Kayden, Jaxton, Sophia, Gracelyn, and Grayson, one sister Sue Austin, two nephews Byron VanKirk and his wife Leslee, and Jimmy Austin and his wife Laura, one niece Heather Densberger, four great-nephews Daniel, Joseph, Trent, and Dakota, and a great-niece Mykyla. A fireman’s farewell service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sunbury Fireman’s Memorial on Market Street, Sunbury followed by a Celebration of Life service at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #503, 33 S. 3rd Street, Sunbury with Pastor Jane Gehers officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of John to the Sunbury Moose Lodge 181, 256 Market Street, Sunbury, PA 17801. The V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High Street, Selinsgrove is assisting the family with the arrangements.
