John David Shirk, 62, of Winfield, entered into rest on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital Lewisburg, John was born on November 24, 1963, in Sunbury the son of the late Ruth V. (Mull) Shirk and Chris “Gene” Shirk and his stepmother Ruth of Winfield.On August 8, 1987, he married the former Gail M. Benick, who survives. The couple were married for 38 years at the time of his passing. He was a 1982 graduate of Selinsgrove Area High School and SUN Area Vocational School. John was employed by Weis Markets as a truck driver.John was a member and a trustee of Wesley United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove and more recently attended Christ Community United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove. He enjoyed hunting, tinkering in his garage and Ford Mustang cars. In addition to his father, stepmother, and wife, John is survived by his son Jeffrey Shirk of Mississippi, a brother and sister-in-law William and Trish Shirk of Selinsgrove, two nephews Christopher (Katelyn) Shirk and Matthew (Hani) Shirk, a great-nephew Elijah Shirk, a stepbrother Cloyd (Paulette) Renner, and a stepsister Lori (Donald) Rumsey. He was preceded in death by a daughter Victoria Shirk. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High Street, Selinsgrove and again on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3939 Park Road, Selinsgrove with Pastor Andy Bucke officiating and Pastor Eric Shafer assisting. Burial will be in Shreiner’s Cemetery, Selinsgrove. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of John to Christ Community United Methodist Church or to the American Liver Foundation, 155 Passaic Ave, Suite 100, Fairfield, NJ 07004.
