Mary E. (Rhynearson) Spencer

Mary Ellen Spencer, 102, of Richfield, formerly of Liverpool and Port Trevorton, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was the wife of the late William Lewis Spencer who preceded her on February 5, 2007.

Mary was born on October 15, 1922, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lulabelle (Dye) Rhynearson. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis. Since 1960, Mary has been a member of the Shermans Dale Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Mary loved her family caring for her mother-in-law and disabled sister for many years. She enjoyed sewing and singing.

Mary is survived by her four children, William Lewis (Linda) Spencer II, Judith (Karl) Bergmann, David Eugene Spencer, and Virginia “Ginny” (Raymond Weiland) Engle, 14 grandchildren, Karl (Michelle) Bergmann III, Michael Paul Bergmann, William (Brandi)

Spencer III, Crystal Woodruff, Katie (Matthew) Shober, Steven Spencer, Sara (Nick) Rutkowski, David B. (Michele) Spencer, Anthony “Tony” Spencer, Matthew (Mary) Spencer, April (Thaddeus) Wilson, Richard (Tiffany) Engle, M. Lance (Jordana) Engle, and Spencer (Paige) Engle, and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Calvin Rhynearson and a sister Selma Bouher. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High Street, Selinsgrove followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with her son William Spencer II officiating. Burial will be in St. John (Barner’s) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Liverpool. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Mary to the Shermans Dale Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 6951 Spring Road, Shermans Dale, PA 17090.
