Rex Kerstetter Obituary

Rex A. Kerstetter, 86, of Middleburg, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at his home.

He was born on March 2, 1940, in Sunbury, Pa. Rex was the only child of the late Paul H. and Martha E. (Reigle) Kerstetter. On March 19, 1986, he married the former Cynthia L. “Cindy” Bubb. His passing breaks a marital bond of 40 years.

He was a 1958 graduate of Sunbury High School. Rex joined the United States Navy in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962.

Rex was employed with the Prudential Insurance Agency from 1963 to 1968, and with the Metropolitan Insurance Agency from 1968 to 1975. He retired in 2001 as an aide from the DPW, Selinsgrove Center.

Rex was a member of Zion’s Church of Kratzerville. Prior to joining Zion, he was a member of the Lutheran faith, where he taught Sunday school and Catechesis classes for approximately 13 years.

In recent years, he enjoyed watching evangelism ministries on TV.

He enjoyed reading his Bible, visiting family and friends, fishing with family and friends (Nelson & Dick), pets, and watching the birds.

In addition to his wife, Rex is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian A. Kerstetter and his wife Tammy and Bret A. Kerstetter; four grandchildren Mindy Kisner and her husband Mike, Seth Kerstetter and his wife Ashley, and Tylar and Carter Kerstetter; six great-grandchildren Rafe Ney, Christian Kisner, Eben Kisner, Danel Kisner, Eveline Kerstetter, and Jack Kerstetter; and one great-great-granddaughter, Aviana.

Rex was close to his sister and brother-in-laws, Dale and Teresa Wright and Mike and Tam Bubb; friends John Powell and Susan Siry; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Zion’s Church of Kratzerville, 4106 Route 204, Selinsgrove, PA 17870 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dan Conklin officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the start of the funeral service.

Interment with full military honors will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Rev. Dan Conklin; Rex’s caregivers over the past two years, Teressa G., R.N. of TNT Home Health Care, Ellie H., Katie E., Katie S., Rosie Z., Tom H., Dr. J. Pagana, and most recently, his residential hospice care team. Your love and compassionate care for Rex will never be forgotten.
