Richard M. Forster, 76, Freeburg
Richard M. Forster, 76, of Freeburg passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Brookline Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Mifflintown.
He was born January 30, 1949, in Freeburg, a son of the late John W. and Ruth I. (Ewig) Forster.
Richard was a 1966 graduate of Selinsgrove High School. Following high school Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.
He worked as a foreman for PennDOT for 35 years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Church of Freeburg.
Richard was a member of VFW Post 5640 in Middleburg and American Legion Post 957 in New Berlin. He was also a member of the Susquehanna Bass Master’s Club and the Freeburg Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting and spending a lot of time fishing in Canada.
Richard is survived by two sisters, Carol Kratzer and Beverly Kistler; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William K. Fortser and Eugene Hummel.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 9 from 10-11 am at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove followed by the funeral service at 11 with Pastor Jason Hostetter officiating.
Burial with full military honors accorded by VFW Post 6631 and American Legion Post 25, both of Selinsgrove will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Freeburg.
