Shirley D. Markley, 91, formerly of Mt. Pleasant Mills, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at Nottingham Village in Northumberland, PA.
Born on October 11, 1933, in Port Trevorton, Shirley was a daughter to the late John and Harriet (Lenig) Weaver.
After graduating from Selinsgrove Area High School in 1951, she married the love of her life, Norman Markley.
Shirley’s dedication to her family was unwavering. She supported her husband, Norman, through every season on the farm, always finding time to nurture and nourish those around her.
After selling the farm in 1994, Norman and Shirley made memories traveling and vacationing with Sonny and Erma Stauffer. They also enjoyed playing cards and attending church activities with the Stauffer’s.
Known by all who loved her for her kind heart and incredible talent in the kitchen, Shirley was an exceptional baker. She lovingly shared her homemade breads, pies, and sweets, each one made with care and tradition. Her recipes became the heart of countless celebrations and quiet afternoons with her family.
Shirley is survived by three sons; Dale (Valencia) Markley, Geroge (Cindy) Markley, and Keith Markley; two daughters Donna (Jeff) Boyer and Terri (Lance) Koch; brother John Weaver; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman Markley; and two brothers Walter and Bruce Weaver.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 10 – 11 AM at V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 North High Street, Selinsgrove with the funeral service to begin at 11 AM with Pastor Jeff Boyer officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview “Verdilla” Cemetery, 46 Garden Road, Selinsgrove.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Fairview “Verdilla” Cemetery made to Glenn A. Dressler at 1945 Sand Hill Road, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
