Susan L. Renkel

Susan Lee Lisinski Renkel, 71, of Washington Township, Snyder County, passed peacefully at home with her husband at her side on September 5, 2025.

Susan was born July 30, 1954, at Shamokin Community Hospital. She was the daughter of Alfred E. Lisinski and Sandra Harriet Mae Neihart of Trevorton Road, Shamokin, PA.

Susan graduated from the Geisinger School of Nursing in August of 1984 and worked as a critical care and hospice nurse primarily at Evangelical Community Hospital Lewisburg, PA and prior to that at Selinsgrove Center, Selinsgrove, PA. She served as Editor for the Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania for many years and maintained several bluebird nest box trails.

Susan had a passion and wonder for nature and enjoyed exploring the natural world. She was an avid gardener and conservationist. She especially enjoyed backpacking, hiking, rustic camping, and bicycling, in natural settings. A deep forest stream was a favorite. She found her greatest joys in the simplest of things, a rainbow, a seashell, a shooting star, a smile and a hug. Susan had a wonderful sense of adventure which she shared with her husband during our travels and excursions, always a sense of anticipation of what was around the next corner.

Susan is survived by her husband of 43 years, Daniel Renkel; a sister Melanie Lisinski Goldberg; two nephews, Michael Goldberg and Cody Goldberg; and a cousin, Anjel Baier.

There will be no immediate service, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a future time.
