Sylvia J. (Herrold) Merrill

Sylvia Jeanette Merrill, 90, of Selinsgrove, formerly of Northumberland, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 23, 2025, at her home. She was the wife of the late Luther Dean “Pete” Merrill, who preceded her in July 1997. Sylvia was born on November 11, 1934, in Herndon. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Alma (Reichenbach) Herrold. Sylvia was a graduate of Sunbury High School. She was formerly employed as a seamstress at local garment factories and was co-owner of a craft business with her daughter Carla. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin and hunting with her late husband. Sylvia’s pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Carla (Donald E. Jr.) Swartzlander, two grandchildren Michele “Chip” (William) Stark and Donald E. (Erica) Swartzlander III, and three great-grandchildren Torry Chevy Dean Stark and his fiancée Kairi and stepdaughter Athena, Donald E. Swartzlander IV, and Ethan John Swartzlander. She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by three sisters, and three brothers. Services will be held later at the discretion of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Sylvia to the Stray Haven Animal Shelter, 194 Shepard Road, Waverly, NY 14892. Arrangements by the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N.
