William E. “Bill” Doyle, 90, of Winfield, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, with his family by his side.
Born on June 28, 1935, in Lewisburg, Bill was a son to the late Frank and Bertha Doyle. On March 31, 1956, he married the former Shirley Beaver, who survives. Bill and Shirley would have celebrated their 70th anniversary.
Bill retired as a meat inspector with the USDA after 41 years of dedicated service. He began his working life as a farmer, a role that reflected his deep connection to the land and strong work ethic. Later, he sold his farm and went on to find and operate Winfield Supply, where he continued to build a successful career. Also, Bill was instrumental in forming the Winfield Fire Company.
Bill was known for his signature cowboy boots and hats, a reflection of his down-to-earth spirit and personal style. He had a deep love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. Bill never met a stranger—he loved people and was naturally sociable, always ready to strike up a conversation. Many mornings, you could find him at Dunkin’ Donuts, enjoying a cup of coffee and good conversation with his buddies. With his quick wit and warm personality, he was a jokester and a charmer, leaving those around him smiling and laughing. Bill was a true character.
In addition to his loving wife, Bill is survived by a daughter, Marie Ermert (James); a son, William A. Doyle (Amy); grandchildren Nicole Boone, JJ Ermert, Summer Burkett, and Morgan Doyle; and great grandchildren Shay Boone, Richard Burkett, Adrianna Burkett, Giavonna Pena, Giovanni Pena, Guiliano Pena, Bently, and Willow Ermert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3939 Park Road, Selinsgrove at 11:00 AM with Rev. Eric Shafer officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 AM prior to the funeral service.
Interment will follow in Shreiners Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
